A flexible kitchen checklist
Dr. M's Pantry
Build a kitchen that makes a nourishing choice easier. Start with what you actually enjoy and will use.
There is no perfect pantry. Choose for your culture, budget, allergies, medical needs, and household. If you follow a therapeutic diet, use your clinician's guidance.
Choose a few from each group
Plants with staying power
Fiber-rich foundations
Easy proteins
Flavor builders
Calm-day helpers
Foods you simply enjoy
Leave room for pleasure. A sustainable pantry supports health without turning food into a test.
The five-minute label pause
Start with the serving
Notice the serving size and how it compares with the amount you usually eat.
Look for fiber
Compare similar products and favor the option with more fiber when it still tastes good to you.
Compare sodium and added sugar
You do not need a perfect number. Use the label to make a better comparison within the same category.
Read ingredients with context
A long ingredient list is not automatically harmful. Focus on the overall pattern and your individual needs.
